some people hang their mornings
on the idea of a new beginning
while the radiance of day shines
clarity on the night before
in the present, that luminosity reveals
deeper understanding of the dark path
we walked down to get here
at the lake side
so that our view of our recent footsteps
is woven into right now,
to be turned around in wonder
and enjoyed as much as the
sunny day and cool water
